POT 15 - Pottery on the Wheel

Introduction to the potter’s wheel, for beginning and intermediate students. Basic throwing skills will be taught, as well as design and decorative techniques for functional pottery forms.

The tuition includes a $55 fee, which covers the cost of one bag of stoneware, raku, or lizella clay (other clays at additional cost), glazes, and 2,000 cubic inches of glaze firing. Students provide their own tools. Additional clay and tools may be purchased from the studio (credit card only). All work fired at Callanwolde must be produced in the Pottery Program studios (no outside work allowed). Students may access the studios on weekends and most afternoons for practice at no additional cost.

 About the Instructor:  Eric Strange - Eric began making pots 20 years ago here at Callanwolde and completed the Assistantship Program under then-director Glenn Dair in 2002.  Since then he has worked as a studio potter and instructor and displays his work at numerous arts festivals throughout the southeast.  He focuses on functional, wheel-thrown pots with strong forms.  You can see his work on Facebook at and on Instagram at strangeeric.

Payment plan available: $75 deposit plus 1 payments of $78.00, paid monthly. Final payment of $77.00.
